Cloudy Bay Pinot Noir 2009

Vibrant red in color, the 2009 Pinot Noir displays a nose that is both pure and complex revealing aromas of strawberries, earthy fresh mushrooms and smoky spice. The palate is finely balanced, with a vibrant core of red fruits clad in a silky, luscious lining. A subtle textural chalkiness and fine grained tannins indicate a wine that will develop beautifully in the bottle over the next 7-8 years.

"Medium ruby-purple colored, the 2009 Pinot Noir has pronounced aromas of red cherry, warm raspberries and lavender with nuances of cinnamon stick, violets, cranberries and cloves. Medium bodied with a medium level of silky tannins, it has a good backbone of lively acidity, plenty of mouth-filling berry and spice flavors and a long finish. Drink it now to 2014+."

Cloudy Bay Sauvignon Blanc

Pale straw green in color and enticingly fragrant, the 2011 Sauvignon Blanc offers lifted aromas of ripe stonefruit and juicy citrus with underlying notes of blackcurrant leaf and tomato plant spice. The palate is fine yet succulent, with zesty citrus flavours and fresh acidity. There is an appealing plushness about this wine especially as it leads into a lingering and characteristically crisp finish.

"The 2011 Sauvignon Blanc offers intense notes of gooseberries, passion fruit, grapefruit zest and grass with a hint of fresh herbs. Crisp, dry and medium bodied with a good concentration of grapefruit and herb flavors, it gives a long tropical fruit laced finish. Delicious now, it should remain fresh through 2013."

Oyster Bay Pinot Noir 2010

Incredibly floral and full of bright and abundant red cherry fruit, it's really hard to beat this cool-climate New Zealand Pinot for the price. Medium-bodied with great acidity and a pleasing bit of rhubarb-tartness, vanilla, and spice on the long finish, we like this pocket-friendly Pinot with a mushroom-topped turkey burger for an easy mid-week meal.

Giesen Riesling 2008

A lovely purity of aroma with notes of honeysuckle, jasmine and lime combining beautifully. Purity is also apparent on the palate with flavours of tangelo, a touch of blue borage honey. A succulent, juicy palate is kept in check by the clean, fresh acidity giving the palate length and minerality.

In 1838 William Macarthur planted Riesling vines near Penrith in New South Wales.[32] Riesling was the most planted white grape in Australia until the early 1990s when Chardonnay greatly increased in popularity.[30] Riesling still flourishes in the Clare Valley, in particular the areas of Watervale and around the Polish Hill River, and the cooler Eden Valley and High Eden regions. Riesling is also being grown with increasing popularity in the Western Australian regions Albany, Frankland River and Porongorup. The warmer Australian climate produces thicker skinned grapes, sometimes seven times the thickness of German grown grape
