Our 2010 Sauvignon Blanc was produced from grapes grown in various microclimates of the Napa Valley. The warmer Napa Valley microclimates give us grapes that result in wines with a lush, full melon/citrus character in the aroma and in the flavor. The cooler Napa Valley fruit provides a solid, crisp backbone that gives the wine an exciting liveliness that balances the rich creaminess from "sur lie" aging.

Pair with:Dungeness crab and arugula salad with lemon vinaigrette.

Souverain Sauvignon Blanc 2008

Vineyard & Vintage Notes
Our Estate vineyards in northern Alexander Valley are the primary source of grapes for the 2008 Alexander Valley Sauvignon Blanc. The soils here are composed of gravelly benchland and alluvial strata, which produce moderately vigorous vines yielding fruit with flavors of citrus, melon and floral notes.

Winemaking
All of the fruit for this wine was whole cluster pressed in order to maintain varietal character and yield the most delicate juices. Winemaker Ed Killian opted for a style that reflects classic varietal character with a softer mouthfeel. A combination of cool tank fermentation and barrel fermentation (allows for a richer flavor profile while retaining typical citrus zest aromatics. In order to achieve a delicate oak balance, the juice was fermented in a combination of once-used and 3-year-old French oak barrels and aged for five months on the lees before final blending and bottling.
